This article describes solutions for when you experience problems with the image quality of your camera. This article consists of the following parts;

  1. My picture is not sharp

  2. My image is white or overexposed

  3. My image is too dark

  4. My image falters

  5. My image is blocky with movement

  6. My image is bad in the dark

1. My picture is not sharp:

If you experience problems with the sharpness of the image of your camera, check the following;

  • Check that the lens of the camera is clean. If the lens of the camera is not clean, carefully clean the lens of the camera with cloth.
  • You can watch the live camera image in Quality or Speed -mode. In Speedmode the camera uses less bandwidth but you also view a less sharp image. You can check how your preference is set;
    1. Open the 'HomeWizard Cameras'-app
    2. Select the camera to open the entire screen.
    3. Go to 'options' on  in the upper right.
      • Press Priority on 'Quality' or 'Speed' depending on your preference.
  • It may be that the lens of your camera is twisted and is out of focus. If possible, you can rotate the lens yourself to adjust the sharpness of the camera. The rotation of the lens depends on the model.

IMPORTANT

When using the full screen, the image is always displayed horizontally. This means that your smartphone always has to be tilted.

2. My image is white or overexposed:

In brightly lit environments or in overexposure (outdoor / indoor environments with a lot of white light) the image can be improved when you set the camera to 'outside mode'. You can adjust and minimise overexposure with the following steps:

  1. Open the   'HomeWizard Cameras'-app.
  2. Press 'Menu' of the camera at the top right.
  3. In the menu of the camera, press  'Image'
    • You enter the 'Image' settings -screen
      • Press 'Contrast compensation' for the desired adjustment.
        • Press 'Outside' to optimise illumination in standard lighter rooms.

3. My image is too dark:

  • In dark environments (indoor environments where there is little light) the image can be improved if you set the camera to indoor-mode. You can adjust this with the following steps:
          • Press 'Inside' to optimise illumination in standard darker rooms.

  • With some models (CIP-37210, C735IP, C933IP) it is possible to switch on a better contrast. As a result, dark parts in the picture will get more detail by using Wide Dynamic Range technique. Depending on the camera model, you can adjust the WDR with the following steps:
    1. Open the   'HomeWizard Cameras'-app.
    2. Press 'Menu' of the camera at the top right.
    3. In the menu of the camera, press  'Image'
      • You enter the 'Image' settings -screen
        • Press 'WDR' to improve details in the image.

4. My image falters:

  • Go to 'images per second' for a shaky picture. It should be at least 20 frames per second or higher for smooth viewing. This setting is only applicable when viewing in 'Quality' -mode. You can adjust this with the following steps:
    1. Open the   'HomeWizard Cameras'-app.
    2. Press 'Menu' of the camera at the top right.
    3. In the menu of the camera, press  'Image'
      • You enter the 'Image' settings -screen
        • Press 'Images per second' to adjust the images per second.
        • Press '20 images per second 'or higher for a smoother picture.

This adjustment is only visible when looking in 'quality' mode.

  1. Open the 'HomeWizard Cameras'-app

  2. Select the camera to view the camera in fullscreen
  3. Go to 'Options' in the user right corner
    • Check in Priority if 'Quality' is on.
  • It is possible that your internet connection on your phone or camera does not have enough bandwidth to be able to display your camera image smoothly. To lower the stream bandwidth, set it to the 'Speed' mode instead of 'quality' mode. You can adjust this with the following steps:
    1. Open the 'HomeWizard Cameras'-app
    2. Select te camera to view the camera in fullscreen
    3. Go to 'Options' in the user right corner
      • Pressure at Priority "Speed" depending on your preference.

IMPORTANT

The image quality of 'Speed' -mode does not affect the recording quality.

5. My image is blocked in motion:

If the image is blocked by movement, you can improve its quality by adjusting the bandwidth. This setting only applies when viewing in Quality mode. You can adjust this with the following steps:

  1. Open the 'HomeWizard Cameras'-app

  2. Open the camerafor fullscreen view
    • Go to 'Options' in fullscreen mode of the selected camera
      • Check in Priority if 'Quality' is on.
      • Press 'Back' twice to return to the list view.
  3. Press 'Menu' at the top right of the window of the same camera.
  4. In the menu of the camera, press 'Image'.
    • You enter the 'View' setting screen
      • Press 'Bandwidth' to increase the bandwidth.

IMPORTANT

By increasing the bandwidth, the quality of the image improves, but you also consume more data.

6. My image is bad in the dark:

My image is too dark at night.

  • Check that night vision is onor auto of your camera. Check this with the following steps:
    1. Open the   'HomeWizard camera' app.
    2. Press 'Menu' at the top right of the window of the camera.
    3. In the menu of the camera, press 'Image'
      • You enter the 'View' -setting screen
        • Press 'Night view' for the desired adjustment.
          • Press 'On' to leave infrared light on continuously.
          • Press 'Auto' to let the camera detect sensors when infrared light should turn on or off.
  • Check in a dark room if you can see red lights on the camera. (night vision is on) If this is not the case, your night vision lighting may be defective.
  • Make sure there are no objects too close to the camera. These are then overexposed. An object close to the camera can cause objects that are farther away to appear darker.

My image has little detail at night:

The lighting (night vision) which turns on the camera to illuminate dark areas can be reflected back into the lens by objects close to the camera. This may prevent you from seeing an image that is too light or with little detail. See examples and solutions below:

  • If the camera is placed in a downward-facing position, make sure that the light can not reflect on the camera itself or on the camera's surface.
  • If the camera looks through glass, the glass reflects the night vision lighting and the camera sees itself as it were, then turn off night vision. There should be sufficient other light sources to be present in order to maintain a bright image. You can turn off night vision with the following steps:
    1. Open the   'HomeWizard camera' app.
    2. Press 'Menu' at the top right of the window of the camera.
    3. In the menu of the camera, press 'Image'
      • You enter the 'View' -setting screen
        • Press 'Night view' for the desired adjustment.
          • Press 'Off' to continuously turn off infrared light.

If you still have poor image quality:

Have you gone through all of the above steps and you still have poor image quality. Then consult the following article; 'Reset the camera'.
